WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Festival of Cinema NYC returns in 2020 in the form of a Drive-In Theatre! As with previous years, attendees can expect to see some of the best unreleased independent films currently on the festival circuit.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Bring your ticket (either printed or on your phone). Upon arrival our team will check your tickets with a contactless check-in scanner, respecting social distancing guidelines. You will then be directed to the Red Carpet where you will have the opportunity to have your picture taken from the safety of your vehicle. Once your picture is taken, our staff will then lead you to your spot where we’ll wait for the sun to set. Our audio is quality FM stereo sound that is tuned directly through your car’s FM stereo.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED IN MY CAR?

All tickets are Standard entries for 1 car with up to 5 passengers per car. You will be asked to confirm the number of passengers during checkout. For optimized viewing we recommend 2 passengers per car as visibility may not be ideal in the back seats of smaller cars.

WHEN ARE THE SCREENINGS AND HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS?

Ticket prices start at $35 per car. Screening times vary by day and by ‘Film Block’ so please check carefully when booking. Check-in will begin 60 minutes before the start of the film.

ARE THERE ANY VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS?

To keep the Drive-In safe and fun for everyone, the following vehicle restrictions apply.

    • Not permitted are:

      • Bicycles

      • Motorcycles or scooters

      • Convertibles without roof

      • Cars with trailer attachments

      • Passenger vans (7+ seats)

      • Buses

      • RVs

      • Long wheelbase vans

HOW WILL PARKING BE ALLOCATED?

Vehicles will be staggered throughout the lot. For sightline reasons, taller vehicles such as SUVs will be parked towards the rear of the venue so as not to block the views of smaller cars.

ARE ALL SCREENINGS SUITABLE FOR ME/CAN I BRING MY CHILD?

With the exception of our ‘Family Night of Animation – Block 4’, the recommended age for most Film Blocks is 17+. Most of the films being screened are independent films currently on the festival circuit, therefore they do not have MPAA ratings and are not suitable for children. We will indicate on event pages whether or not events are recommended for children. If you have any questions please email info@festivalofcinemanyc.com

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE?

If you arrive later than 15 minutes after the screening start time (for instance, 7:15 for a 7:00 start), you may miss the mandatory Drive-In safety briefing and may not be allowed to enter.

CAN I USE MY PHONE/CAMERA AT THE DRIVE-IN?

You are allowed to use your phone during the Drive-In experience, however, if you are seen recording the film(s), you will immediately be asked to delete all footage, your device will be confiscated, and only returned to you at the end of the screening.

CAN I BRING AN ANIMAL TO THE DRIVE-IN?

With the exception of ADA required service animals, unfortunately we cannot admit any other animals.

AM I ALLOWED TO SMOKE?

Smoking is not permitted at the Drive-In.

ARE THERE TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR?

There will be limited tickets available at the door, but payment will ONLY be accepted through credit card or other contactless methods (via Venmo or Paypal)  **CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED**

CAN I ATTEND WITHOUT A CAR?

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate guests without cars at the event due to safety concerns and as per city and state regulations. Should regulations and city guidance change, we hope to move towards socially distanced walk-up events, but until further notice this is not legal or advisable.

IS THE DRIVE-IN SUITABLE FOR GUESTS WITH ACCESS REQUIREMENTS?

There will be ADA accessible spots allocated at each screening. We understand that each guest may have different access requirements and our team will be able to provide further details if you contact them. Please get in touch on info@FestivalofCinemaNYC.com  if you have specific questions.

CAN I RESCHEDULE MY TICKET IF I THINK I MIGHT BE SICK?

If you have symptoms, or have been in close contact with a person exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you please stay home for the safety of our staff and other attendees. Please contact us about transferring your ticket to a friend, or rescheduling for a later date.

No alcoholic beverages are allowed at Festival of Cinema NYC Drive-In. Having an open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle is prohibited in New York State at all times even when a car is parked, and this law applies at the Drive-in as well. Feel free to bring your own non-alcoholic beverages and food.

WILL THE DRIVE-IN TAKE PLACE IN BAD WEATHER?

Events will continue under most weather conditions. The Festival of Cinema NYC Drive-In will utilize a large outdoor screen, and in the event of sustained heavy wind or an imminent heavy storm, we may need to delay a screening until weather conditions pass, or in a worst case scenario, reschedule an event.

In the event of a rescheduling, we will issue a credit to the rescheduled screening and/or a different screening later in the season. If there is a delay during the screening, please keep your radio tuned to the Drive-In radio station and await notification.

Most vehicles will not have a problem. If you are concerned, we recommend turning your car on a few times during the movie.
