3: Materials for Press
See PR FAQ tab for further instructions
Please note that all press requirements are IN ADDITION to any and all materials required by the web and programming team unless noted.
4: Submitting your Exhibition/Projection copy BY JUNE 24th
Festival of Cinema NYC will be screening all selected films at the Regal UA Midway located in Forest Hills, Queens New York. Regulations at the Regal Cinema require that ALL exhibited films be projected via DCP format. (including music videos, micro shorts, animations and web/episodic) Its is important for you to know that we DO NOT create, test, or otherwise handle DCP files at our NYC offices. All DCP related questions or concerns should be directed at MONGO MEDIA using the emails provided below. *please not that Mongo Media does not accept physical drives and all dcp files must be uploaded via file transfer to there system.
FOR WEB or TV SERIES ONLY: The print we receive must match the original submission. (in other words, if you originally submitted 1 episode, your print must only contain 1 episode. If you sent multiple episodes, your print must contain the exact same episodes that were originally submitted to us) Adding, removing or replacing episodes may result in disqualification and removal from our program altogether.
For 2024, Festival of Cinema has partnered with MONGO MEDIA to handle all DCP creating and testing. MONGO MEDIA will collect, create (if necessary), test, and ship all DCPs to the exhibition venue in an organized and efficient fashion. **PLEASE NOTE that our NYC OFFICES DO NOT HANDLE DCPs and do not have the facilities to test, create or otherwise download or receive DCP files and drives.
MONGO MEDIA will offer filmmakers the lowest fees on the market. There will be no charge for filmmakers who submit a compatible, pre-existing DCP for testing. However if the DCP provided fails or doesn’t meet the requirements additional charges may apply to either fix or create and new DCP.
Whether you submit a current DCP or have your DCP created by MONGO DCP, your DCP can also be quickly and affordably delivered to other festivals and venues within MONGO MEDIAS network.
Read the below instructions carefully to ensure we receive your film:
Steps for Submitting your print to MONGO MEDIA:
- Send a download link of your existing DCP or your high res master quality file that will be used to create your new DCP to:
ez.in.dcp.share@gmail.com
rich@mongomedia.net - If an upload link is needed, please reach out to the same emails for assistance.
- IF YOU NEED TO HAVE A DCP CREATED email using the subject line Festival of Cinema NYC, FILM NAME, DCP TO BE CREATED
- IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A DCP AND NEED IT TO HAVE IT TESTED AND SENT TO THE FESTIVAL the subject line: Festival of Cinema NYC, FILM NAME, DCP FOR TESTING
- Please include the name of the contact person, email, the film title, film length and if the film contains subtitles in your email.
- Send your film to MONGO MEDIA no later than June 24th. After this deadline filmmakers may incur an expedited processing fee billed directly to them from Mongo Media
- MONGO MEDIA will then create all new DCPs and gather all pre-existing 3rd party DCPs and perform QA tests to ensure that each film will screen without any unforeseen playback issues.
- Once QA checks have been completed, MONGO MEDIA will ship all films directly to the venue on a collective drive. Please note that the festival will NOT have a copy of your specific DCP and filmmakers will not be able to pick up their created DCP at the fest.
- It is important that you follow all instructions and be in communications with MONGO MEDIA regarding the status of your film. This includes resolving any issues or errors that MONGO MEDIA may have encountered with your existing DCP or File Upload. This is especially crucial when dealing with subtitles or sound issues.
If you have any questions or concerns about the above process, please email MONGO MEDIA at rich@mongomedia.net or call them at (212)213-3670 for assistance.

Incorrect: Forest Hills Film Festival; THE Festival of Cinema NYC (there is no ‘THE”)
Q: When can a filmmaker and/or their publicists start to publicize and promote that their films have been accepted into Festival of Cinema?

What is Festival of Cinema NYC?
Festival of Cinema NYC is a 10-day film festival that aims to bring awareness to the work of emerging independent filmmakers around the world.
When is it?
The 2024 Festival of Cinema NYC will be taking place at the Regal UA Midway in Forest Hills Queens from August 2 – 11, with an Awards Dinner Ceremony taking place at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in Jamaica, Queens.
How do I get there?
The best way to attend Festival of Cinema NYC is by taking public transportation. Visitors can take the E, F, or R train to 71st Continental Ave.
Who can attend the festival?
The festival is open to anyone regardless of age, sex, religion or background. While the festival has no age restriction, please be aware that all the films are unrated and may contain adult situations, adult language, nudity, and violence.
Does the festival provide screening/licensing fee to filmmakers?
Does the festival provide travel and lodging?
Where is the main screening venue and how many seats would there be?
How many times will my film screen?
How do filmmakers get access to screenings, events, seminars, etc.?
Every accepted film receives TWO (2) filmmaker badges. Script finalists receive ONE (1) These badges must be assigned to a specific individual and are non-transferable. Each badge holder will have access to attend all screenings for free (subject to seating availability, with the exception of their own film.) Each badge will also allow you into the closing night Awards Dinner which normally costs $75 to attend.
I am bringing a huge crew with me (friends, family, fans, managers, agents, followers, additional cast and crew, etc.) can I get free passes for them?
Unfortunately no. Each attending filmmaker gets TWO (2) all-access badges that must be assigned to an individual. (the badges will have their names on it.) One additional badge may be purchased for $150 (note that additional badges are limited and are sold on a first come first served basis)
This is my films premiere and my entire cast and crew want to attend. Can I get free passes for them?
Unfortunately the answer is no. See above. As much as we would like to provide entire cast and crew with comp passes to their screenings, due to the costs associated with putting together an event of this magnitude we simple cannot. Please keep in mind that we are a small not for profit organization who put together this film festival as a platform to show the work of multiple emerging filmmakers. We are not a private premiere service.
I lost my badge. Can I get a replacement?
DO NOT lost your badge. Filmmaker badges cannot be replaced and filmmakers who lose their badge will be subject to buy a ticket not just for other films, but for their own film as well.
I can’t make it to the festival. Can I assign my badge to someone else instead?
Filmmakers may assign either of their badges to anyone they choose. This can be a cast or crew member, or even a film representative. However, Festival Badges must be assigned and will only be good for that specific person. Eg: You cannot use your badge to attend screenings or events then hand it off to a friend for screenings/events that you cannot make it to.
Where do I pick up my DCP?
Festival of Cinema DOES NOT have possession of individual DCP drives. All DCP related issues, included how to obtain a physical copy, must be arranged with MONGO MEDIA. You can email them at rich@mongomedia.net
Can I pick up my Back up copy BluRay, DVD, or other physical drive at the festival?
Yes you may! After your film screening you may request any materials you may have sent us. One of our staff members will retrieve it from our projection room locker.
Congratulations on being chosen as one of the 10 Un-Produced Script finalists at this year’s Festival of Cinema NYC!
The Un-Produced Script category continues in 2024. Last year the un-produced script competition proved to be such a success that we decided to bring it back! That being said – Thank you for being part of the program at Festival of Cinema NYC!
Please be sure you have filled out the questionnaire that was sent to you. This is basically our way of knowing that you confirm your participation. If you have any trouble uploading your script, you can send it directly to programming@festivalofcinemanyc.com
What happens next:
- As a Finalist you will receive ONE (1) full access badge to the festival that will allow you to attend all the screenings and events, including our Awards Dinner Gala on August 11.
- As a Finalist, you will have the opportunity to put up a staged reading of your script – UP TO 10 PAGES, at the Forest Hills Library directly across our main theater venue the Regal UA Midway. (this will be a free and non-ticketed event, but RSVP will be required)
- The staged reading is OPTIONAL. You do not have to participate, but it is a great way to hear your script read out loud. It’s also a great way to give attendees a bit of insight on the writing process.
- There readings will take place on Thursday August 8th: 1pm block & 3:30 pm block. Five scripts will be read at each block.
- The 10 pages can be from anywhere within the script. (e.g. It can be the first 10 pages, the last 10 pages, or somewhere in the middle of the script – YOU decide)
- You are free to cast it yourself, however if you need any help getting actors/readers – We’re here to help! Just shoot us an email at programming@festivalofcinemanyc.com with any questions!
- The event will be recorded, but unfortunately the library does not have good WiFi, so for now we will be unable to stream it
- Participating or not participating will not affect you chances of winning an award at the Awards Dinner on August 11th.
- A jury panel at the festival will read each script privately and determine the winner. This is NOT an audience choice vote.
